Transforming Communities with Access to Safe Water: Lamwo, Palabek-Kal Residents to Benefit from Shs9.3B Piped Water Project

At Icon Projects Ltd, we are passionate about sustainable infrastructure that transforms lives. We are delighted to share an exciting development that will make a lasting impact on the people of Lamwo District.

The Ministry of Water and Environment, through a new Shs9.3 billion piped water initiative, is set to expand safe water access to residents of Palabek-Kal Town Council and surrounding communities. Currently, the system abstracts about 25 cubic litres of water per hour from each production well—a testament to the area’s strong groundwater potential, as each borehole has a capacity of over 30 cubic litres per hour.

A Lifeline for Palabek-Kal Town Council

One of the major highlights of the project is a separate water supply system valued at over Shs5.012 billion, constructed by Gat Consults Ltd. Once completed, this system is projected to serve 12,113 people across the wards of Pauma, Kal, Bwomono, Lanywang, and Labigiryang. Importantly, the design has been built with a long-term vision—ensuring that the community’s needs will be met sustainably up to the year 2044.

Building for Impact

Access to safe and reliable water is not just an essential service—it is the foundation of healthier communities, stronger local economies, and improved quality of life. Projects like these are proof of what’s possible when government, engineering expertise, and local stakeholders work together to deliver infrastructure that transforms lives.

At Icon Projects Ltd, we remain committed to championing projects that enhance access to essential services, strengthen resilience, and inspire development across Uganda and beyond.
